Chief Executive Paul Howarth’s Investiture at Windsor Castle

After receiving a CBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List earlier this year, our Chief Executive Paul Howarth was formally awarded his honour at an Investiture ceremony in Windsor Castle’s Grand Reception Room on Tuesday 29 October. He was presented with his insignia by HRH Princess Anne.

Paul’s CBE came in recognition of his significant contribution and service to the nuclear industry and to UK research and development.

The award of a prestigious Royal Society Fellowship to work on Japan’s nuclear programme, the co-founding of the Dalton Nuclear Institute, and truly establishing NNL as one of the UK’s leading nuclear organisations supporting Government and the industry as a whole, are highlights of Paul’s distinguished career that will culminate in his retirement from NNL next year.

Paul Howarth said:

“It was a huge honour to formally receive my CBE at Windsor Castle and to meet HRH Princess Anne. My overwhelming feeling was one of great pride for the way that nuclear has undergone a renaissance, and I am immensely grateful for the expertise and efforts of everyone I have worked with over decades in this industry.

“Nuclear science to benefit society will continue to be my guiding mission after I retire from NNL. There is so much to be excited about in the nuclear industry and I have no doubt that we will see the next generation of nuclear scientists recognised for their groundbreaking work in the very near future.”
