Join our NuClear Science: Webcast on Fuelling the Future

Science and technology is the beating heart of NNL. As part of our ambition to showcase the transformative impact of our work, as well as the work of our collaborators and partners, we are pleased to announce that the second instalment in our NuClear Science: Webcast series will take place on Thursday 5th September between 2 and 3 pm BST.

Join us via our online portal as our panel of engaging and expert speakers discuss Fuelling the Future.

Dr Sophie Cooper from NNL’s chemical and process modelling team will facilitate the conversation. Join her to find out about what is involved in designing nuclear fuel for different reactor types, the nuances of fuel manufacture, and learn about what must be considered when developing fuel to be resilient in a wide variety of scenarios, including disposal.

This is your chance to put your questions to  experts from across the industry. Our own expert and Senior Fellow in Fuel Manufacturing, Dave Goddard, will be joined by:

  • Dr Cathy Thiriet from Canadian National Laboratories, who has significant experience in fuel prototyping and qualification
  • David Eaves from Westinghouse Springfields, who’s career to focus is process improvement alongside research and development
  • Dr Phylis Makurunje from Bangor University, who contributes to the development of reactors for space applications and has helped pioneer a new particle fuel manufacturing facility
