Nuclear Power and the Environment
NNL are among the contributors in the latest volume of Issues in Environmental Science and Technology. Volume 32, entitled “Nuclear Power and the Environment” examines the environmental implications of generating electric power from nuclear fission.
From the back cover:
“The pressing need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is leading many countries to plan extensive new programmes of construction of nuclear power stations which serves to re-emphasise concerns over environmental impacts.”
NNL has provided a chapter on Decommissioning of Nuclear Sites. This examines the goals and stages of decommissioning as well as looking at the scale of the decommissioning challenge for the UK. And finishes with a look at the environmental impacts of decommissioning.
