Marketing Cheshire and The University of Manchester’s Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre have completed this year’s successful Amazed by Science Festival 2016.

The summer festival takes place annually across Cheshire running a series of science based events aimed at children.  This year, there were science shows for all of the family to enjoy and gain more insight into science and its relevance to everyday activities.

In particular, an event at the Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington featured a fun filled day as NNL and Sellafield Ltd showcased  a variety of hands on science activities. The NNL team   demonstrated replica glove boxes, puzzles and remote controlled robots.

The day enabled the NNL team to interact with children and parents from the local community, answering questions and providing information about potential careers in the nuclear industry.

As part of NNL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive, NNL people are encouraged to get involved with local communities to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) activities. This is part of an initiative to inspire young people to pursue a career in science.

The day encouraged children to get involved and parents to understand more about the nuclear industry and the careers it can offer.
