Double Delight at Skills Awards

There was double delight for NNL at the end of last week when NNL scooped not one, but two top awards at the Nuclear Skills Awards Diner in Manchester.

Frazer Hawthorne was named “Scientific Apprentice of the Year” and received his award from Rikki Douglas, representing category sponsors Ultra Electronics Energy. Moments later another NNL colleague Henry Preston was announced as the winner of the award for “Science Graduate of the Year”.  Henry received his award from Young Generation Network Chair Mike Roberts, as the YGN had elected to sponsor that category. In addition to the wins for Frazer and Henry, NNL criticality specialist Deb Hill was just pipped to the title of “Subject Matter Expert of the Year”.

The Nuclear Skills Awards recognise excellence and achievement all across the sector and this year is the first time ever than NNL have had two winners on the same evening. Frazer and Henry stepped into the spotlight in front of hundreds of nuclear industry leaders, fellow finalists, sponsors and guests at a glittering black tie dinner in Manchester’s Hilton Hotel.

NNL CEO Paul Howarth joined the winners on stage as they collected their awards, and commented:

“It was a fantastic evening at the Nuclear Skills Awards Dinner, and a truly great result for NNL. Having Frazer and Henry both win their award categories – and with Deb also nominated – shows the amazing capability we have across the organisation. I’m really proud of what they have all achieved and congratulate them all on behalf of all colleagues across NNL.”
