Chemical Analysis

NNL has over 25 years' experience in providing chemical analysis for customers, ranging from routine assay to strategic solutions. Our professional service centres around our customer from initial contact to the final report. We are able to handle activity levels up to 20mSvh-1 gamma, including dry material.

Elemental Analysis

We have extensive experience of the preparation of a wide range of materials for qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis on major and trace components. Sample materials include: metals, filters, ion exchange resins, decommissioning waste materials, FED, oils, acidic/alkaline solutions, waste waters and uranic liquors.

We provide up to 55 element scans for unknown compositions and specific determinations including uranium isotopes and isotopic abundance. We use ICP-OES and ICP-MS in order to achieve detection limits of tens of parts-per-trillion for many elements.

Anion analysis

We are capable of analysing materials using chromotography to ppb level, covering Acetate, Nitrate/nitrite, Bromide, Chloride, Fluoride, Formate, Iodide, Oxalate, Phosphate and Sulphate.

We also specialise in a range of other analysis, including:

  • Carbonate

  • Free acid and pH

  • Conductivity

  • Reactor compatibility

  • Total Organic Carbon/Inorganic Carbon
  • UV-visible spectroscopy
  • Infra Red - qualitative assessment and identification of organic compounds

Thermo Gravimetric Analysis - qualitative assessment of the breakdown of organic and inorganic compounds e.g. assessment of Lewatit proportion in resin samples.
